DERIVATIONAL AFFIXES IN LEWIS CARROLL’S NOVEL ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLANDXML
The aims of this thesis are discussed about the categories of affixes and types of derivational affixes found in Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Focusing on problem statements, there are are two cases. They are what categories of derivational affixes and what types of derivational affixes. The writer uses descriptive qualitative research. In analyzing the data, the writer applies the theory of Francis Katamba (1993) and David Born (2009). The findings show that there are 211 words of derivational affixes which divided into 4 lexical category changing processes. They are noun derivational affixes which contains derivational of lexical category from adjectives to noun and from verb to noun. Verb derivational affixes which contain derivational of lexical category from noun to verb. Adjective derivational affixes which contains derivational of lexical category from verb to adjective, and from noun to adjective. Adverb derivational affixes which contains derivational of lexical category from adjective to adverb, from noun to adverb, and from verb to adverb. There are 37 affixes which divided into three categories, prefixations, suffixations, and confixations.
