THE MATERIAL CULTURES IN TOBA BATAK TINTIN MARANGKUP

Abstrak
This study about the material culture and the meaning of The Material Culture in Toba Batak Tintin Marangkup. This thesis uses descriptive qualitative method to find The Material Culture in Tintin Marangkup Toba Batak and find out the meaning of the material culture in Toba Batak Tintin Marangkup. This thesis uses Miles, Saldana. Huberman model to collecting data and the procedure of data analysis. The writer uses semiotic theory by Charles Sanders Peirce to found the material culture and meaning in Toba Batak tintin marangkup. The result of this research shows what are the material culture that are pinggan/pinggan panukkunan/pinggan na hot (ceramic plate), boras sipir ni tondi/boras siribur ribur (rice), ringgit sitio suara (some of money), napuran tiar (betel leaf), gondang (batak instrument of music), selendang (shawl), sortali (headband), takuluk (hat), ulos, sibong (earrings), golang (bracelet), tintin (ring), kalung (necklace), jas (suit), sepatu (shoes), find out the meaning of umpasa (proverb) in the tintin marangkup. This thesis shows text, co-text, and context find in tintin marangkup tradition Toba Batak society.
